L. Stephen Hill, AIA – Founding Partner

With more than 25 years of experience, Stephen Hill’s designs have made a significant contribution to the New York City skyline. Known for his expert and efficient layouts and clear, concise vision, Hill has crafted a variety of buildings, from high-rise residential towers and mixed-use hotels, to retail spaces, historic renovations and adaptive re-use projects. In addition, his work has expanded to private residences and commercial office space.

Hill co-founded Hill West Architects to provide clients with an architectural firm focused on superlative quality for highly functional buildings. His expertise in the design and technical development of residential buildings is the foundation for his career. His portfolio includes 161 Maiden Lane, One Riverside Park, The Rushmore, The Aldyn, 220 Riverside Boulevard, 160 Riverside Boulevard, The Aston, and the renovation of the Plaza Hotel.

Prior to establishing Hill West Architects, Hill co-founded Goldstein, Hill & West Architects and was a partner at Costas Kondylis and Partners. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute, has NCARB certification and is licensed in several states. Hill resides in New Jersey with his wife and daughter, who is following in her father’s footsteps and studying architecture at SCAD. During his free time, he enjoys restoring old homes with his wife and traveling, Greece has been a favorite destination for its history and architecture.

David West, AIA – Founding Partner

With “architecture in his DNA,” David West is a veteran with over 30 years of experience. From the time he built model airplanes as a young boy, West has always been fascinated by the art, science, history, math, and “respecting the past” of architecture which has continued throughout his career.

As one of the founding partners, West continues to lead design projects that have included Sky, 363 and 365 Bond Street, 101 Lincoln Avenue, 71 Reade Street and Apthorp Penthouses. West stays personally involved in the planning and design of all his projects while also noted as one of New York City’s premier zoning experts. As a zoning authority, West has conducted thousands of feasibility studies and has been involved with nearly 100 completed projects. The unique blend of knowledge of both the pre-development process and residential building design, he provides the most creative and practical solutions. Additionally, through his extensive background in land-use approvals including the ULURP process, Variances and Landmarks Commission Approvals, he is frequently involved in projects from the earliest stages of land assembly, giving him a unique perspective into the practical aspect of various development solutions.

Prior to co-founding Hill West Architects, West co-founded Goldstein, Hill & West Architects and was a partner at Costas Kondylis and Partners. Previous positions include Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer and John Harding Architects. He received his degree in Architecture from University of California at Berkeley. An expert in the industry, West has given numerous lectures and participated on panels at such institutions as the AIA, Department of City Planning, Real Estate Board of New York, New York University and Columbia School of Real Estate. Fascinated by archeology, the ancient ruins in the Yucatan is one of his favorite places. On days off, West is home in Weehawken with his son often designing and building furniture.

Jason Dubowski, AIA, LEED AP – Associate Partner

Jason Dubowski has nearly 15 years of experience that spans a broad range of residential and mixed-use developments in New York City. He is an energetic team leader with a proven track-record in project management and executive architect roles. Dubowski has successfully managed projects from preliminary design through construction administration, with his most recent projects including One West End Avenue, 56 Leonard Street, 261 West 25th Street and 250 West Street. From a young age, Dubowski had a keen eye for architecture and construction, often times sketching his childhood home and neighborhood projects on graph paper to conceptualize how a project could look.
Before being named associate partner at Hill West Architects, Dubowski was a senior associate at Goldstein, Hill & West Architects, and prior to that worked at Costas Kondylis and Partners. Dubowski graduated with honors from the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington. A lifelong golfer, Dubowski enjoys traveling the country to play new courses. The Financial District resident and avid cyclist can be spotted on weekends riding through NY and NJ on the 9W bike route.

Nick Koumarnetos – Associate Partner

 

Nick Koumarnetos brings over 19 years of architectural experience to Hill West Architects. With an eye for construction and design, he has worked on a wide range of building types including high-rise residential towers, mid-rise low income, and luxury apartment buildings as well as commercial and mixed-use projects.   He has successfully managed projects from schematic design through construction administration.  Koumarnetos’s most recent work includes The Aldyn, The Ashley, One Riverside Park and 71 Smith Street.

Prior to being named associate partner at Hill West Architects, Koumarnetos was a senior associate at Goldstein, Hill & West Architects and Costas Kondylis and Partners.  Koumarnetos received a Bachelor of Art in Architecture from New York Institute of Technology. When not envisioning the next project for Hill West Architects, he is often known to renovate apartments for leisure and also spends time with his family at the beach, either on Long Island or in Greece.

Michael Rose, RA – Associate Partner

Michael Rose has over 25 years of experience working on all aspects of a development, from the initial concept phase through construction, with a special proficiency in exterior envelope and curtain wall. Architecture is a passion for Rose as he enjoys the way projects come together, and how the team at Hill West Architects is able to execute their vision.  In his current role at Hill West Architects, Rose has been involved in a broad range of the firm’s projects, including Sky, 365 Bond Street, The Hub, 22 Central Park South and 77 Reade Street.

Prior to being named associate partner at Hill West Architects, Rose was a senior associate at Goldstein, Hill & West Architects. Rose also held positions at Costas Kondylis and Partners, Pei, Cobb, and Freed and Partners Architects where he focused on exterior wall design and had the opportunity to work on institutional and commercial projects. Rose received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Rice University. A Texas native, Rose moved to New York City and currently resides on the Upper East Side with his wife and two children, where he still enjoys building with Legos.

Alkis Klimathianos, AIA – Director of Design

Alkis Klimathianos brings more than 16 years of experience to the Hill West team. His work involves of all aspects of a project, from concept design through construction.  In his current role as the Director of Design, Klimathianos oversees the firm’s design direction and overall operations of the design department. His responsibilities include building design planning, feasibility studies, and competitions.

Prior to joining Hill West, Klimathianos worked for Kohn Pedersen Fox, Gwathmey Siegel & Associate Architects, TEN Arquitectos, and Costas Kondylis and Partners. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the Pratt Institute and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.

Sean Dawson, RA, LEED AP – Senior Associate

Sean Dawson has worked extensively in all aspects of single and multifamily housing in New York City. He has worked in real estate development, architectural design, construction and fabrication, for luxury, market-rate and affordable housing types.

Dawson works directly with firm partner, David West, one of New York City’s premiere zoning experts, in the managing and consulting of proposed and current office projects. Dawson’s primary focus lies in zoning, code, and general compliance issues, as well as project feasibility, massing, planning, and preliminary design.

Dawson is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and has a Master of Architecture from Columbia University.

Maria Rango – Director of Operations

Maria Rango has over 10 years of financial and management experience.  She oversees the financial, accounting, and administrative affairs of Hill West.

Rango joined Hill West (formerly Goldstein, Hill & West) at its inception in 2009 establishing the firms accounting and administrative policies, procedures and strategies. Prior to Hill West, Rango served as an accounting team member at Costas Kondylis and Partners and Vanderbilt Appraisal Company. She has strong focus on human capital management; developing and implementing on-boarding, training and development, performance management, employee retention, benefits management and employee relations for the firm.

Rango holds a Masters in Organizational Psychology.

Sabrina Pagani, AIA, CID, LEED AP – Director of Strategic Development

Sabrina Pagani brings over 15 years of experience as an architect and an interior designer to Hill West’s Business Development and Marketing team.   She has extensive experience working on all facets of project management ranging from development to concept design, FF&E selection, and site installation. Her versatile background as a skilled designer informs her decisions and is an invaluable resource.

Prior to joining Hill West, Pagani was the Director of Residential Interior Design at FXFOWLE.  She has developed and executed projects in all niches of residential and hospitality design, including multifamily projects, hotels, cruise ships, restaurants and bars. She also ran her own design firm for over 8 years and taught undergraduate architectural design studios at NJIT.  Pagani holds a Masters in Architecture (M.ARCH I) from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a B.A. in Art History from Dartmouth College.  She is a registered architect and a certified interior designer in New York State, is NCIDQ certified, and is LEED AP certified in commercial interiors.

Breana Imburgia – Human Resource Manager

Breana Imburgia has 4 years of office management and human resource experience. She joined Goldstein, Hill & West in 2012 and has since become the face of recruitment for Hill West.

Along with running daily operations including employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, on-boarding of new hires, and employee performance, she also spearheads employee development and coordinates all company and client events.

Imburgia is a graduate of St John’s University and holds a degree in Psychology.

Allan Agopian, RA – Senior Associate

Allan Agopian brings over 20 years of architectural experience to Hill West. Agopian has worked on multiple building types including high rise residential towers, mid-rise low income buildings, luxury apartment buildings as well as commercial and mixed use projects. He has managed projects from schematic design through construction administration. Agopian’s most recent works include 959 First Avenue, 515 9th Avenue, 61st and York, 250 West Street, 550 West 29th Street, and 23-15 44th Drive.

Prior to Hill West Architects (formerly Goldstein, Hill & West,) Agopian worked for Costas Kondylis and Partners. While at Costas Kondylis, Agopian worked on a multitude of projects including 44th & 8th Avenue and The Ritz-Carlton in White Plains.

Agopian Received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from New York Institute of Technology.

Zuzzette Agopian – Senior Associate

Zuzzette Agopian brings 18 years of architectural experience. She has worked on a wide range of building types including high rise residential towers, mid-rise low income buildings, luxury apartment buildings as well as commercial and mixed use projects.  She has successfully managed projects from schematic design thru construction administration. Agopian’s most recent work includes West 29th Street, 71 Reade Street, and 130 William Street.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Agopian worked for Costas Kondylis and Partners.  During her tenure there Agopian made significant contributions to a number of projects including, 45 Park Avenue, Battery Park City, and Hotel Delmonico.

Agopian received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture- a 5 year degree in the Philippines.

Lou Concepcion – Senior Associate

Lou Concepcion brings over 45 years of architectural experience to Hill West Architects and has supervised and coordinated the completion of numerous large scale projects. His recent projects include Waterline Square, 56 Fulton Street and 71 Smith Street.  Concepcion has also worked on fourteen separate buildings on Riverside for the Trump Organization.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Concepcion worked as a Senior Architectural Designer and Job Captain at Lev Zetlin Associates. There he worked on projects including Nippon Airline Cargo Terminal, SAS Airline Cargo Terminal, and the Long Island Railroad Station. Concepcion has also worked at Stephen Kagel Associates as an Architectural Designer and Gabriel Formoso and Partners.

Concepcion received a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines.

Frank D’Angelo, AIA – Senior Associate

“My love for architecture comes from a lifelong admiration and awe of New York City.”

With over 20 years of professional experience as an architect, Frank D’Angelo has played a leading role on a wide variety of large scale, residential, hotel, and institutional projects throughout New York City. He has collaborated on a wide range of building types – from high rise luxury residential towers, mixed-use hotel with residential and light commercial components, mid-rise urban developments, to low income housing.

In Queens he led the realization of Tower 28, a 451 multi-family residential tower that stands in the heart of Long Island City. In Manhattan he is currently working on the high profile and highly anticipated One Seaport, a 670 foot condominium tower that stands across from the South Street Seaport. Other residential and hospitality projects include the d’Orsay on West 14th Street, 250 West 81st Street, and 12 Eckford Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

D’Angelo excels in leading design teams in all aspects of the process – from schematic concept and design development, through the construction document phase, to completed construction. His consistent contact with clients ensures careful management of projects as they progress.

D’Angelo is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is a registered architect in New York State. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the New York Institute of Technology.

Mourad Berrouane – Associate

“I have always been fascinated by the multi-dimensional aspect of architecture; starting from the design phase, answering client’s aspirations and concerns, to solving issues arising on each project, and moving between office & construction site.”

Mourad Berrouane has over 16 years of experience with an extensive background in project management and design for large scale luxury residential, hotel, and retail projects.  His experience is a great tool in helping clients and teams throughout the building process.  Utilizing BIM, he leads his teams through all phases of projects, always striving for the best methodology to streamline coordination and maintain open team communication.  His recent work includes 363 Bond Street, 91 Leonard, 305 East 86th Street, and 7 West 57th Street.  Prior to joining Hill West Architects, Berrouane was a project architect/manager at Gene Kaufman, Architect P.C. in New York. There, he oversaw zoning analysis, design, and production of several buildings in the area, including 44-15 Purves Street, a 48-unit condo, the Viceroy Hotel 120 West 57th Street, a 29-story luxury hotel, 206 East 52 Street, a 29-story hotel with restaurant, 10-50 Jackson Avenue, a 12-story condominium with 37 residential units plus retail, among many others.

Berrouane received a Master of Architecture and Urban Design from the New York Institute of Technology.

 

Steven Borecki – Associate

Steven Borecki has 30 years of experience with an extensive background in new and renovation construction and construction administration for large scale residential and mixed use construction. His extensive experience is a great help in driving the project from design development through completion. His recent work includes 71 Smith Street and 50 Riverside Boulevard, also 400 West 61st Street, 10 Riverside West Boulevard, and 639 West 59th Street of the Riverside Center.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Borecki has worked for several firms including Michael Lynn & Associates, Ehasz Giaclone Architects, and Wank Adams Slavin Associates and Costas Kondylis in construction administration at over 30 new and existing projects in the metropolitan area including Port Liberte in Jersey City and Amalgamated Warbasse Houses in Coney Island.

Borecki has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

John J. Bratach, AIA – Associate

“As a young child the local librarian introduced me to picture books of architects such as Mies, Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright and others and I knew immediately that was what I wanted to do.”

John J. Bratach has over 30 years of experience with a wide-ranging background in construction administration and project management for large scale luxury residential, commercial and transportation projects.  His hands on approach to resolving issues throughout all phases of the project makes him an invaluable team member focused on maintaining a project’s schedule.  His recent work includes 45 East 22nd Street, 515 Ninth Avenue, 250 West Street and Sites 23 and 24 in Battery Park City.

Bratach has been with Hill West (formerly GHWA) since its inception and was previously at Costas Kondylis and SOM in New York. At Costas Kondylis, Bratach was involved with residential projects including 200 West End Avenue, 1330 First Avenue and 645 West 42nd Street.  At SOM he worked on Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto, CA, John F. Kennedy Airport Terminal 4 redevelopment, office tower at 383 Madison Avenue and a medical office building for Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn.

Bratach received a Bachelor of Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.  He is a licensed architect in New York State and a member of the AIA.

 

Marlon Cruz, RA – Associate

“I loved puzzles and Legos when I was a kid… and nothing has changed since. All these buildings are just like the puzzles and Legos I grew up with. It’s like I’m playing at work!”

Marlon Cruz has 12 years of experience with a background in affordable housing and design for large scale luxury residential, hotel, and retail projects. His recent projects include 71 Smith Street with 20 stories of retail, 196 hotel rooms, and 128 condos, 639 West 59th Street with 34 retail stories, and 214 residential units, and the Riverside Center Amenities featuring a 60,000 square foot fitness center with a basketball court, tennis court, swimming pool, soccer field and much more.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Cruz was a project architect/manager for 8 years at SLCE Architects working on City Point Phase 2, 400 Fifth Avenue, 350 West Broadway, 350 Snediker Avenue, and 157 Graham Avenue with involvement in schematic design through construction administration.

Cruz received a Bachelor’s Degree of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The City College of New York and is a registered architect in the states of New York and New Jersey as well as being NCARB certified.

 

Howard Falconer – Associate

“I credit my introduction to architecture and design to my Primary School Math and Art teacher, who gave me the honor of drawing The Blickling Hall Estate in Norfolk, England after a school trip.  The rendering was displayed in the school assembly hall for several weeks and my interest in Architecture and Design continued from then on.”

Howard Falconer has over 15 years of architectural and interior design experience. Falconer has experience working on both architecture and interior design of high rise residential buildings. He has experience in zoning analysis and architectural codes as well as NYCECC compliance. Falconer has most recently worked on 508 West 24th Street, 10 East 29th Street, 206-210 West 77th Street, 219 West 77th Street, 10 East 29th Street, and 505 West 19th Street.

Prior to Hill West Architects (formerly Goldstein, Hill & West,) Falconer was employed at A. Glannopoulos Architects and Ismael Leyva Architects and worked on The Oro Condominiums, 309 5th Avenue, and 167 Johnson Street.

Falconer received a Master of Science in Interior Design from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Architecture History with a minor in Architecture from Syracuse University.

 

Viraj Hankare – Associate

Through his 16 years of experience, Viraj Hankare has developed a broad understanding of design workflow that is process driven with an interest in design technologies that facilitates informed design decision making.

Hankare has led the design and managed the construction of several of the firm’s prime projects since 2012, including 28LIC, a 600 foot tall luxury rental tower in LIC, notably the tallest residential project in the outer borough, 161 Maiden Lane, a 620 foot tall slender luxury condominium project, an addition to the NYC skyline along South Street Seaport, as well as 209 W14 a boutique luxury condominium project on the fringe of West Village and Chelsea.

Prior to joining Hill West Architects, Viraj was an associate at John Fotiadis Architects, in New York with a focus on designing boutique multifamily residential projects in New York City and Europe. He also worked at architectural firms in the Middle East specializing in multi-unit residential high-rises early in his career.

Hankare is a licensed architect from India and an alumnus of Texas A&M where he received his Master in Architecture.

Joseph Illuzzi, AIA – Associate

“From an idea, to drawings, to a complete building, I find architecture a fascinating process to be part of.”

Joseph Illuzzi is a registered architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects with over 17 years of experience. Illuzzi has an extensive background in the construction administration of commercial and residential projects.  His experience helps foster a team approach through the construction process. His current projects include 45 East 22nd Street, West 29th Street and the Queens Plaza Residential Development.

Prior to Hill West Architects (formerly Goldstein, Hill & West Architects) Illuzzi was a project architect at IBI Group-Gruzen Samton in New York. There, he managed the construction administration of several projects, including the Daniel Patrick Moynihan US Courthouse Entrance Pavilion, El Museo del Barrio, the modernization of the Emanuel Celler US Courthouse, Sunrise Yard Facilities Maintenance Building, among others.

Illuzzi graduated Cum Laude from the New York Institute of Technology earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree.

 

Kyungwook Jang, LEED AP – Associate

As a design architect, Kyungwook Jang is responsible for projects’ exterior design concepts for Hill West Architects. His practice continues from the creation of massing through design development and construction phase to execute the concept successfully. He participates in feasibility studies frequently. His design sensibility is shown on numerous buildings of HW. During his professional career, he has worked on over 30 projects built or under construction in NY and South Korea.

Prior to joining Hill West, Jang was the Design Director of New York Projects for Costas Kondylis & Partners. He has played a major role in the design of projects such as The Continental, 80 Dekalb Ave, Columbus Square and Barclay Tower.

Jang received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute.

Sung Shik Kim, AIA – Associate

Sung Shik Kim is a registered architect in New York State and has over 20 years of planning, architectural and interior design experience. Kim has extensive knowledge and experience in New York City Zoning Regulations and Building Codes as well as an understanding of various city agencies’ approval process. These, along with excellent design skills, make him especially valuable in the early stages of projects.  At Hill West Architects, Kim specializes in feasibility studies and providing quality control reviews for zoning and code compliances.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Kim was a Senior Associate at Magnusson Architecture and Planning PC in New York where he spent over thirteen years working extensively on mixed use building and urban planning projects.  In addition to being in charge of pre-design phase of all projects in the office, Kim successfully managed a number of ground up buildings as well as land use approvals including ULURP applications.

Kenneth Kornstein – Associate

Kenneth Kornstein has over 50 years of extensive experience in New York City and Philadelphia architectural design and construction management. He has worked on numerous large-scale urban planning projects including high-rise residential, multi-family residential, single family residential, commercial retail and office, hospitality, institutional, and justice/corrections (both public and private sectors.)

Kornstein’s recent works include 10 Madison Square West, 42-12 28th Street, Burlington County Courthouse, and St. Maarten Hotel and Casino.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Kornstein worked for O&S Associates, Vitetta, Polatnick/Zacharjasz Architects, Mike Rosen Architects, Lichtman Associates, and owned Kornstein Design.

Kornstein received an Associate Degree in Building Construction from Spring Garden College and his Bachelor in Architecture from the Drexel Institute of Technology.

Sarah Ladner Gomez, RA – Associate

Sarah Ladner Gomez has over 17 years of architectural experience. She has worked on a wide range of building types including high rise residential towers, luxury apartment buildings, institutional, and mixed-use projects. Ladner Gomez has successfully managed projects from schematic design through construction administration.  Her most recent works include 508 West 24th Street, the Riverside Center ULURP, and Riverside Center Building 1.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Ladner Gomez was employed by Costas Kondylis and Partners, Garrett Gourlay Architect and H.Thomas O’Hara Architect. During her tenure there, Ladner Gomez made significant contributions to a number of projects including 100 West 18th Street, Vesta 24, The Opal, and 425 5th Avenue.

Ladner Gomez received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.  She has been a Registered Architect in the State of New York since 2008.

Dennis Lehrer – Associate

“As a child I would ride in the backseat of my parent’s car down to visit family in New York City.  As I gazed out the car window at the skyscrapers above, it was as if we were driving through the base of a steep canyon. This spatial experience left a memory that motivated me to begin drawing spaces of my own.”

Dennis Lehrer has over 14 years of experience with an extensive background in project management and design for large scale luxury residential, hotel and retail projects.  His experience along with his passion for design gives him the ability to bring challenging design projects to fruition while working closely with clients to make sure all their needs are met.  His recent works include 22 Central Park South, 1399 Park Avenue, and 123 Linden Boulevard.

While at Hill West (formerly GHWA) Lehrer has acquired a wide range of skill sets working on projects all around NYC that include hospitality, residential, renovation, retail, commercial and historical restoration.  As Job Captain at Ismael Leyva Architects P.C. in New York he worked on 440 42nd street, a 60-story residential tower and hotel project.  There he oversaw project teams, coordinated the façade design, and worked on production.  He later worked as Project Manager at George Berger Associates where he worked on several renovation projects including two hotels in Midtown Manhattan among others.

Lehrer received a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute.

 

Edmund Leveckis – Associate

Edmund Leveckis has over 20 years of professional experience within the architecture field.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Leveckis was employed by number of notable firms including Costas Kondylis and Partners and Robert A.M. Stern Architects.

Leveckis has participated in a number of projects including 56 Leonard Street, The Plaza Hotel Condominium Conversion, The John L. Vogelstein ’52 Dormitory – The Taft School, Broadway Residence Hall – Columbia University, and Sterling Law School Renovations – Yale Law School.

Leveckis holds a Bachelor in Architecture from the Boston Architectural Center as well as an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Blue Hill Technical Institute.

Michael Mandell – Associate

Michael Mandell has over 20 years of architectural experience working on a wide range of projects in the New York area.  His past experience includes new single family homes and renovations throughout   New York and Long Island; corporate, retail, residential interiors, and luxury residential/mixed use mid and high-rise buildings in New York City and Brooklyn.  His past experience includes everything from preliminary design, construction documentation and detailing, and construction administration.

At Hill West Architects he specializes in construction administration where he has successfully managed   the construction of numerous projects, including but not limited to 1113 York Ave, 959 1st Avenue, and 86 Fleet Place.

Mandell received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology from New York Institute of Technology.

Sarah Oller Nevado, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD+C – Associate

“Growing up I would build intricate box and blanket forts that had multiple rooms with openings and connecting tunnels.  Today, I’m part of a team that designs and builds complex residential towers from the ground up. If only 7 year old me could see me now.”

Sarah Oller Nevado has over nine years of extensive architectural experience in multiple large scale residential high rises, private residential, small commercial and corporate interior projects.  She’s involved in multiple phases of project delivery from schematic design to construction administration and has managed projects from the earliest phases of development to construction.  She has worked on several rental buildings with inclusionary housing and affordable units.   Her recent works range in site complexities,  size,  and are located in four different boroughs Manhattan – Sky (605 W. 42nd Street) , Brooklyn – The Hub (333 Schermerhorn),  Queens –  Halletts Point Building 1,  and Bronx –  2401 Third Avenue.

Oller Nevado is a graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and as a provost fellowship scholar received her Master of Infrastructure and Planning.  She is a LEED Accredited Professional.

 

Margit Rott, AIA, LEED AP – Associate

Margit Rott is a Registered New York State Architect and holds a LEED AP certification with more than 18 years of professional experience. Rott’s experience includes a wide variety of residential projects including mixed use, adaptive re-use, affordable housing, high rise, high end residential projects and interior design with a strong focus on sustainability.

Currently she is working on the Queens Plaza Redevelopment Design project a large scale residential complex consisting of 3 high rise towers with an amenity building in LIC and has recently completed 234 East 23rd Street.  Rott brings her talent as a team builder and her strong leadership skills to the Hill West team.

Previously, Rott worked as a senior associate at GF55 Architects. She designed and developed several buildings from initial inception through design completion such as 260 West 26th Street, a LEED silver certified residential building. While working as a project manager for Meltzer Mandl Architect, she oversaw 220 Water Street in Brooklyn, a conversion of an existing warehouse to a high end residential atrium loft building and 211 East 51st Street in New York City, an alternation of an existing 12 story residential building into a 21 story high rise sustainable building.

Rott received her Master of Architecture from the Technical University of Berlin in Germany.

Kashif Saleem – Associate

Kashif Saleem is a seasoned designer whose professional work spans all phases of projects.  He has worked on a wide array of multi-use projects throughout New York City that include luxury residential condominium towers, affordable housing, hotels, retail, and theaters.  He is as versatile in conceptual planning as he is in leading a team through construction.  His knowledge of building codes is an enormous asset, as is his experience navigating the complex process of achieving building approvals through collaboration with numerous city agencies.  He is instrumental in overall project collaboration and delivery using Building Information Modeling (BIM).  Saleem has worked with top caliber architects that include Robert A.M. Stern, Raphael Vinoly, Arquitectonica and Rockwellgroup.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Saleem worked with SOM and Ismael Leyva Architects.  He earned a BArch from CUNY and has won numerous awards including the Daily News Design award for “School of the Future”, and the Public Advocate Award.

Jeffrey Ulrich, AIA, LEED AP – Associate

Jeffrey Ulrich is a senior architect, urban designer, and master planner with more than 20 years of domestic and international experience in residential, mixed-use, and community planning projects. He advises clients through the initial decision-making and steers the design development of programmatically-complex, large-scale, multi-family residential and mixed-use projects.  Ulrich’s experience also includes hospitality work, resorts, and senior housing.

Prior to Hill West Architects, Ulrich was a designer with top-tier New York firms; Gwathmey Siegel, Swanke Hayden Connell, Cooper Robertson, and Perkins Eastman. He has executed projects in the U.S., Canada, Russia, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, and the Caribbean. He received his bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., and architecture from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
