Hill West supported the conversion of the Lord & Taylor Building from its historic use as a department store to an office complex owned and inhabited by Amazon. The historic facade has been restored and the ten-story building now features a one-story glass addition and rooftop garden. The building was originally opened in 1914, when Architecture magazine deemed it “the best of its class.”

The building had been occupied by Lord & Taylor since, and was designated a New York City Landmark in 2007.

The project’s success was recently recognized by New York Landmarks Conservancy when they determined it as one of the top preservation projects in for 2024.

We collaborate with our affiliated interiors firm, Whitehall to create holistic buildings that are as thoughtfully designed on the interior as they are on the exterior.
